Two instruments are coming with us, and both are there to be picked up and tried, not just looked at.
The DNA Buster works at collection. It is a dry-vacuum instrument that pulls trace material out of textiles, carpets and other awkward substrates and into a filter for downstream processing. It draws from within the material rather than lifting from the surface the way a swab does, which is where a lot of trace on difficult substrates actually sits. We are introducing it at ISFG, so this is a good chance to see it in the hand.
The SeraQuant reader comes in later, once a SERATEC® lateral flow test has run. It reads that test for blood, semen or saliva and converts a visual impression into an objective, quantified value, one that
Poster highlights
Behind every test and every instrument we sell there is research, and some of it is on the boards this year. Four caught our attention. Some use our tests, one comes out of our own lab, and all four sit close to the questions our field works on daily.
They all run on Thursday, 20 August, in the morning e-poster sessions.

Tips for planning your poster session
The two slots overlap in pairs, so you will have to choose. In the first slot, at 10:49, P243 and P223 run at the same time. If you work with human samples, P243 on vaginal fluid identification is the one to catch. If your work sits on the non-human side, botanical or otherwise, P223 on ZebraShield is the better use of those twelve minutes. The second slot at 11:13 puts P085 and P235 head to head, so again, it comes down to where your interest lies that morning.
